This course will work to deepen learners understanding of domestic abuse through an intersectional lens with a particular focus on collectivist cultures. It will also enhance cultural competency in responding to domestic abuse within cultural contexts whilst acknowledging the barriers faced by survivors.
Learning Objectives
Define and apply the concept of intersectionality in the context of DA
Identify key cultural factors and societal norms within collectivist communities that may influence experiences of DA
Recognise and challenge organisational and personal biases to improve cultural competency and ensure services are accessible and inclusive
Develop culturally responsive approaches to supporting survivors
Explore best practices for collaborative, intersectional and trauma informed responses to DA.
