Description
This course will equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to identify, assess, and respond safely and effectively to incidents of non-fatal strangulation. We will focus on what strangulation is and how it differs from choking.
Learning Objectives
• Identify what strangling and choking are
• Understand the legal definition of the crime of NFS
• Consider the impact on someone of a threat to life assault
• Identify how long it takes and the pressure to strangle
• Appreciate the impact of these abuses on the brain
• Understand the indication of fatality
• Discuss what attendees can do to help & what not to do
